Hardwood flooring specialists in Southwest Florida
Floorcrafters has been supplying and installing hardwood floors across Southwest Florida since 1989, out of our showroom on Metro Parkway. We carry solid hardwood, engineered hardwood, and custom parquet from every major manufacturer - Lauzon, Mirage, Mercier, Bruce, Kahrs, Coswick, Shaw, Armstrong, and more.
Because we buy directly from the mills, you get manufacturer pricing on the same floors the big-box stores sell at retail markup. Our in-house crew handles every step: removal, subfloor leveling, installation, staining, and finishing - and every recommendation accounts for our slab-on-grade construction and year-round humidity, not just the wood itself.

Solid vs. engineered - the right call in Florida
Both are real wood. The difference is how the board is built, and in a humid, slab-heavy market like ours that difference decides where each one belongs in your home.
- Solid hardwood - 3/4" plank of 100% wood, nailed down, can be refinished 5-7 times over its lifetime. Reserved for plywood subfloors, typically on second floors or pier-and-beam construction.
- Engineered hardwood - real wood top layer on a stable plywood core. Doesn't expand or contract with our humidity swings the way solid wood can. Our default recommendation over concrete slabs, below grade, and with radiant heat.
- Wide planks (5"-7") - modern look, work in both solid and engineered constructions.
- Parquet patterns - chevron, herringbone, custom inlays - all available in solid or engineered.

Learn moreWood species and stain colors
Red and white oak account for most of our installations - they're durable, take stain beautifully, and age gracefully. Maple offers a cleaner, more uniform grain. Hickory is the hardest domestic wood and great for active households. Walnut and cherry bring richer, darker tones for more formal rooms.
Stain options range from natural blonde and whitewashed to grey, fumed, and dark espresso. We bring sample boards to your home so you can see the actual stain on the actual wood in your actual Florida light - not a print in a catalog.

Professional installation and refinishing
We install glue-down and floating engineered hardwood, plus nail-down solid hardwood where the subfloor allows. Every job includes moisture testing (a non-negotiable step over any slab), subfloor leveling, baseboard removal and reinstall, and full disposal of old flooring. For existing hardwood that just needs new life, our refinishing crew offers dustless sanding, custom staining, and water-based polyurethane finishes that cure in days, not weeks.

Hardwood Flooring - frequently asked questions
Most whole-home installs take 2 to 4 days. Refinishing existing hardwood adds another 3 to 5 days for sanding, staining, and finishing.
Engineered hardwood works beautifully in kitchens and below-grade basements - the plywood core stays stable when humidity shifts. We don't recommend solid hardwood in either location.
A quality solid hardwood floor can last 80-100 years and be refinished 5-7 times along the way. Engineered hardwood lasts 30-50 years and can typically be refinished 1-2 times.
We bring sample boards in your wood species and color so we can match within a shade or two. If you want a perfect blend, we can refinish your existing hardwood at the same time so the whole floor reads as one.
