Stone floors demand precision. We laser-check every subfloor, back-butter each piece for full mortar coverage, and use the right sealer for the specific stone. Most stone floors also need an initial sealing on installation day, which we include in our quotes.
We also keep records of every stone batch we install, so if a single tile ever needs replacing years down the road, we can usually match the original.
Natural Stone Flooring - frequently asked questions
Yes - except for very dense granite, natural stone is porous and will stain without a sealer. We seal on installation day and recommend a refresh every 1-3 years depending on traffic and the stone type.
Marble can etch from acidic spills like lemon or wine. Many homeowners love the patina, but if you want a pristine look forever, we may recommend a marble-look porcelain or quartzite instead.
Absolutely. Stone conducts and holds heat very well, making it one of the best materials for radiant floor heating. We install electric mat systems under most stone floors.
We keep a record of every stone batch we install and where it was sourced. In most cases we can match the original stone for a single-tile replacement.
